Our country has made it through 365 days of President Trump. That says a lot about us. The doubters (and I’m one of them) have had a whole year of ‘told you so’ moments, yet so far our government hasn’t fallen, our country hasn’t declared any new wars, and my wifi service is still solid.
So why the long face?
Trump just does that to me. Maybe it’s the blatant lies he tells so easily. He’s like that girl I dated in college. There was no relaxing around Carla the liar. My entire second year was spent questioning every word that shot out of her dirty fib-hole. I don’t believe a word that Trump says either, even when he tells the truth, and that puts me on constant edge. I finally wised up and impeached Carla the liar, and I’m hoping America eventually decides to break up with Donald the Liar, too.
It could be Russia.
With all the other drama Trump brings to the table, it’s easy to forget that the feds have accused him and his people of colluding with an opponent who’d love to help us tumble and fail. Russia isn’t our enemy anymore. They’re more like the Jets are to the Patriots, and the FBI is saying Trump has basically let Putin steal our play signals and manipulate our game plan. If you’re a fan of America, then you know how serious a charge that is, and given that there are already three indictments in the case, you better believe that smoke is going to lead to some pretty nasty fire.
It could be the sexual assault charges.
The Washington Post just wrote a piece that’s basically just a list of powerful men (Weinstein, Spacey, Toback, Ratner, Polanski, Cosby) who’ve been accused of various degrees of sexual misconduct. (Link to Article) Notice Trump hasn’t said a word about these men or their victims because he’s been accused of the very same thing. The best joke on last week’s SNL was Baldwin’s Trump to Moffat’s Manifort:
“What an idiot that Harvey Weinstein is. He could have gotten away with all of it if only he had gotten himself elected president.” (Link to Video)
Sad how funny that is.
My long face also comes from watching Trump and the Republicans do everything in their power to dismantle whatever’s got Obama’s name on it. So far out of the 53 new bills he’s signed into law, 15 have rolled back rules and regulations issued under Obama’s administration. That’s almost 30% of his effort spent on taking his predecessor down. (Link to Article)
And there’s his hatred of the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
Are you noticing how he’s sabotaging the ACA ever since its enrollment period began on November 1st? You’re not seeing advertising about the enrollment window online or on TV because our government cut the Affordable Care Act’s advertising budget by 90 percent in order to pretend it’s not working. They also shut down the website for enrollment every weekend.
“See,” they’ll say, “it’s not working.”
Here’s something that brightened me up, though. A Lukas family member wisely posted this on her Facebook page:
The 2018 ACA (Affordable Care Act) enrollment period HAS BEGUN. It’s Nov 1-Dec 15. You’re not seeing advertising about the enrollment window online or on TV because our government cut the Affordable Care Act’s advertising budget by 90 percent in order to pretend it’s not working. They also shut down the website for enrollment every weekend.
Fortunately, your Facebook friends are posting this and using the word “congratulations” so it gets posted more frequently in Newsfeed by FB algorithms.
Also, if you include a picture or a video, FB will circulate it more.
Please *copy and paste* (don’t share) on your own timeline, if you want to help spread the word.
So if you’re as long-faced as I am about facing another three years of Trump, if you’re in the mood to counter his moves against Obamacare (ACA), copy and paste my sister’s post and share it with your Facebook friends. Let’s see if we can fool their algorithms (Link to Article) into helping more of us Americans get affordable healthcare, regardless of what Trump wants.
Congratulations, you’re fighting back.
